Before handing over the PC, separate “needed” from “private”
There is no need to search every folder at the last minute. Decide what the other person needs, then secure private files, accounts, and browser activity.

A five-minute privacy check
- Leave only what they needPut repair notes, presentation files, or temporary material in one clear place so nobody has to browse the whole PC.
- Secure private filesDo not leave photos, identity scans, chat backups, or contracts scattered across the desktop, Downloads, or recent-file lists.
- Sign out of personal accountsCheck email, cloud storage, chat apps, and browser sync. Closing a window is not the same as signing out.
- Review the browserClose private tabs and remove downloads, autofill entries, or history that should not remain.
A short absence
Do not overlook Win+L
Win+L means pressing the Windows logo key and L together. It locks the PC immediately and is often enough when stepping away briefly.
A sudden interruption
Prepare one calm action before you need it
When someone suddenly approaches, asks to see the screen, or starts an unexpected inspection, visibly closing windows may be awkward. Choosing which windows and files need protection in advance makes the moment much easier to handle.
What is visible now
Quickly handle selected windows so unrelated content does not appear during a presentation or inspection.
Files kept for later
Keep them in a vault that requires its password after locking, instead of moving everything before each handover.
