What is the difference between a boss key and SuperWatchDog?
A boss key requires the user to notice the situation and operate the keyboard or mouse. In an urgent moment, that may be too slow or look deliberate. SuperWatchDog can use preconfigured device, gesture, or away triggers to start protection when their conditions are met, reducing reliance on a last-second manual reaction.
The core difference: manual reaction or preconfigured trigger
A boss key is a manual action taken in the moment: the user must first notice what is happening, then press a shortcut or use the mouse. During a sudden interruption, when both hands are occupied, or when an obvious hiding gesture would attract attention, that may not be timely or natural.
SuperWatchDog can be configured in advance with device-disconnect, gesture, or away triggers. When a configured condition is met, it starts the protection actions selected by the user without requiring a last-second reach for the keyboard or mouse.
