What is the difference between file encryption and emergency privacy protection?
Short answer
File encryption mainly protects stored data while it is locked. Emergency privacy protection handles the current screen, signed-in session, and open windows. They complement each other; neither automatically replaces the other.
One protects storage; the other handles the live situation
If an encrypted file is already unlocked and visible, a nearby person can still see it. Hiding or locking the screen covers current content but does not turn ordinary files into encrypted storage. Prepare each layer for its own risk.
Keep long-term private files in an appropriate protected vault and lock it when not in use. When someone approaches, use a suitable window or Windows-lock action. Users choose what and when to protect; the software does not judge file contents.
