TRIM is different from ordinary overwriting
Deleted data on a hard disk often remains until a later write replaces it. An SSD can reclaim trimmed flash blocks in the background; once the device stops returning the original bytes, scanning cannot reconstruct them.
What you can still do
Pause downloads, synchronization, updates, and other writes. Check the Recycle Bin, cloud version history, and backups. If a scan is needed, run it promptly and recover to another drive.
Behavior varies by SSD, interface, operating-system settings, and deletion method. SSD use alone does not prove certain failure or success.
How to judge results
Use preview and actual file opening as the test. A visible name without preview may be only a directory record, while an empty deep scan may mean the old blocks are no longer readable.
Common question
Does shutting down reliably stop TRIM?
Do not rely on shutdown as a remedy. Stop unnecessary writes and check backups, sync history, and available scan results promptly.
